Branch Activities from 1st Quarter

Our branch president, Sheila Curry-Campbell ensures that we have a seat at every table and are in every conversation. We have especially been active in environmental conversations. She has attended the Indiana State Conference NAACP Legislative Day 2019 for Environmental &Climate Justice to advocate for Equitable Clean Energy and Air. NE Indiana Local Food Forum 2019 at Purdue University Fort Wayne to speak about how we can reduce our carbon foot print.

We have gained partnership with The 1415 Gallery for ACT-SO. The NAACP’s Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) is a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students.

Sheila also reminds us of the 2020 Census that is to take place one year from April 1st 2019 to ensure that we are counted to ensure adequate resources are given to our community.

As an organization, we celebrated at the W.I.N. (Women in NAACP) Brunch with Dr. Deborah Godwin-Starks as our guest speaker, participated at the 11th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Legacy and Clergy Breakfast, as well as the 100th Anniversary of Pilgrim Baptist Church.
